Salvatore (Sal) Spina has over 30 years in the Information Technology field, the last 12 in the healthcare industry. Before founding Caring for HealthCare, Sal was a senior technician and system developer for a clinical care software vendor in Northern California. He was instrumental in technical support as well as product implementation. Installing 12 clients with 100% satisfaction.

Sal has held the position of Director of Information Technology, Director of MIS and Director of Technical Services. This includes configuration and set up of telecommunication systems, data processing environments, and secured co-locations.

Sal was the HIPAA Security Officer for a leading IPA in the Bay area, he was instrumental in implementing HIPAA training and safe guards required to protect health information. Sal has chaired the Encryption Team Subgroup for ICE.

Sal received his degree in Information Technology from Computer Learning Centers of San Francisco, has an AA from Ohlone College in Computer Programming and Accounting.

Sal’s innovative style won him the Volunteer of the Year award from the Down Syndrome Connection of the Greater Bay Area as he worked to bring technology to this very special organization.
